Boudoir Photography Poses Using Simple Natural Lighting
Natural lighting for boudoir photography can be easy but can also be challenging. For the beginner it can be a challenge because it just spills in from everywhere and they don’t necessarily know how to control it. Once you learn how to control the light it gets easier to use. Another reason people will do natural lighting is they may not have the equipment such as strobe adn speedlights just yet, especially if they are just starting out.
Boudoir Photography Poses on a Couch Using Natural Lighting and Black Fabric
In this image the model is lying down facing the back of the couch which is made of a soft black fabric. Black absorbs light and negates any light that spills onto the couch. What you don’t see is the window above the back of the couch, with this shot being taken mid day when the sun was highest in the sky. The light spills onto the models body and gently falls off around the edges, but it also defines the edges of her nicely curved body.
The only elements on this body are a nice laced panty and a pair of patent leather high heels, another faceless photo as described in a another Boudoir Photography Tip, gives the viewer the ability to place that body on anyone. This is one of many boudoir photography poses that is a perfect type image for selling, as the model isn’t defined, it could be anyone lying there looking pretty.

Boudoir Photography with Window Light
Boudoir Photography Poses Using Simple Natural Lighting and Controlling the light
As you can see with this image the light source is a large window above the subject. Rather than let the shade be all the way open and filling the room with light we’ve closed the blinds somewhat to control the light. Control is the issue when working with natural light in any type of soot. The beginner may not realize there are way to control the light and use this control to your advantage. Close the curtains a bit or close the blinds, even if you have to move the subject away from the light source that is still controlling the amount of light falling on the subject.
This last image is more of a thought on focal points than on boudoir photography poses. The focal point in this image is the ankle. Did you know that many people have different types of fetishes in regards to images and body parts? Some people have foot fetishes and some have hand fetishes, but what about ankle fetishes? Everyone is different so it’s up to you to find what works with your crowd or your liking and go with it. Instead of focusing on here breast this shot was meant to focus on her ankle and the leather strap that holds the shoe on her foot. Some people have leather fetishes and fetish photography has a nice following and people that buy fetish artwork. Just a thought.
